The Development Corporation Act of 1979 allowed municipalities to create non-profit corporations to promote local business development. McCamey Economic Development Corporation was created in 2002 to promote economic development and business diversification by using the following objectives: creating new jobs, realizing a net gain in property taxes collected, collecting additional sales tax, making improvements that will result in McCamey being a more attractive place for living, visiting, or investing.
The Corporation started out by expanding McCamey’s Santa Fe Park (formerly a small picnic park) to include a trailer park, stage, and pavilion.
In 2008 the Momentum Skate Park was built with the community’s support. In 2011, the picturesque Serenity Park was completed, beautifying Burleson Ave’s Post Office Park for both residents and those passing through town.
On November 15, 2013 McCamey’s beautiful Veteran’s Memorial was dedicated providing a place of remembrance for all past residents who served our county with military service.
More recently, with the addition of an incubator program, a revolving loan program, and an advertising and promotion program, McCamey has seen jobs created, the city beautified, and multiple businesses opened. The current board is dedicated to success and prepared for any challenges McCamey may face.
